Sandplay Therapy
A Group Training for Professionals

"Unless we tend the garden which grows in our psyche, weeds take over, seeds don't grow to maturation, and the garden lies fallow. Digging with courage in the soil may uncover buried boulders which prevent the psyche from blossoming. Digging with intention will give the garden soul. - Come dig in your garden and feed both body and soul."

Yolanda Yturralde, MS, MFT
This is an exciting opportunity to learn or practice Sandplay if you haven't yet discovered it as a part of your psychotherapy practice! Sandplay is a very fluid process. Psyche is the part of us that knows and expresses itself during Sandplay. Through expression in the sand, we are able to work creatively with the material brought to consciousness. During this process, we seek to create a sacred space in which the true Self may emerge. Within the safety of this sacred container, healing and transformation are fostered.

Sandplay is a Gestalt and Jungian Therapy emphasizing depth psychological transformation. Adults or children participate with a therapist in the Sandplay room filled with tiny miniatures which represent the world as we see it.
I have three trays in the room: a dry tray, one which can take water and make the sand wet, and a black sand tray.

The builder is observed by the witnessing psychotherapist while utilizing trees, people, houses and miniature icons to depict a scene in the sand-tray. Sandplay therapy provides an avenue where traumatized children or adults can explore and create new boundaries, work through rage, remobilize defenses and stop isolating behaviors which separate them from the outside world.

When the client confronts their psyche in a gentle way, wounds start to become clearer and begin to heal. Within Sandplay, a deeper sense of Self is created and fostered. This is essential to healing the psyche of the client who has been traumatized. Sandplay Training is offered for professional psychotherapists. Sandplay Therapy is a journey clients are fortunate to embark upon. Consider joining a practice which has Sandplay as one of the psychotherapeutic treatments with someone like Yolanda Yturralde, MS, MFT. "Sandplay is wonderful for healing, ego-strenghtening, skill building, and redesigning life situations."
